Making Harakeke Flowers in Kokako Harakeke Flowers Today as a class, we made harakeke puawai (flax flowers) for Māori Reo Wiki (Māori Language Week), and was whai taonga (gifted) to others. We collected, harakeke and watched an ataata (video) about how to fold and construct the puāwai. Most people making flowers had some difficulty. However, they finished it and managed to teach the teachers and the students how to say thank you (kia kite) in Te Reo Māori. By: Julzya Hunter Share this article: Facebook Twitter LinkedIn
